Before washing, turn your shirt inside out. This protects the fabric from pilling and potential shrinking. It’s a simple step that can significantly extend the life of your shirt.

Use the permanent press setting on your washer. This setting uses warm water, which is ideal for polyester, and includes a cool down or cold rinse to minimize wrinkles. Avoid using hot water as it can cause the shirt to shrink. Instead, opt for cold or warm water to preserve the fabric’s integrity.

Choose a high-quality detergent that contains enzymes, which are effective in busting stains and dirt. Avoid using harsh chemicals for deep stain removal as they might fade or weaken the fabric over time.

After washing, transfer your shirt from the washer to the dryer. Select the permanent press setting, which uses medium heat and ends with a cool down period to minimize wrinkles. Avoid ultra-high heat settings as they can cause the polyester shirt to melt, shrink, or deform. If you prefer, you can also air dry your shirt to further prevent potential heat damage

Iron your shirt while it’s still damp to easily get rid of wrinkles. Use a low heat setting on your iron to prevent the polyester from melting.
